Welcome!

If you haven’t already listened to the podcast I did on Protein - have a listen here… things will make a lot more sense that way.

Before you start getting crazy with the protein, make sure you calculate your needs accurately and ask your doctor if this amount is right for you.

There are a number of reasons why the numbers from this calculator may not be right for your individual circumstance and it’s important to check with your doctor before making and changes to your diet of lifestyle.

If you are over weight or have obesity, please use the Adjusted Weight Calculator and/or compare the two.

I have been using protein powder daily for the last 16 years. I really don’t know what I would do without it. Making a morning shake allows me the freedom to eat what I want throughout the day without worrying about my intake.

I typically use 1 scoop of Garden of Life Raw Meal along with a scoop of Lean Fit, 1 cup of soy milk, 1 banana and then typically some cinnamon, cacao, sometimes some pumpkin pie spice, maca, lucuma, cherries, berries or whatever else I feel like that day but the base is consistent and amounts to about 50 grams of protein which is about 50-75% of my daily protein target.

I drink half in the morning and the other half throughout the day. As long as I finish my shake by the end of the night, I know I have very likely met at least my basic protein needs. This gives me peace of mind.

Here is a list of the all-in-one powders I use:

Garden of Life Raw Meal chocolate - I use this one most often. This is not the best tasting protein and I do not consume it on its own. I use a lot of cacao powder and cinnamon as well as banana and soy milk. when you make this smoothie it can be super delicious. HOWEVER if you are going to use it with only soy milk or water, then you’re going to need to come to terms with the fact that you’re doing it for your health and not for the taste.

Good Protein The cookies and cream is my favourite and they have some other really delicious flavours but they’re a bit sweet for me. I will say, if you’re looking to have a super simple shake using water or plant milk alone, THIS is the best option. It’s delicious without any added fruit or flavours.

Vega One I use the mocha, chocolate and sometimes French vanilla though not often. I love the fact that I can just use this with soy milk and it still tastes good but it is a bit gritty when you don’t blend with fruit.

Here is a list of the protein only powders I also use regularly

Lean Fit Plant Protein I use this one most often as the second scoop in my all in one shake and I find is the best to use in recipes. It has never tasted bitter in my baking and it has also added a creamy texture to the cereal milk or pudding I use it in fresh.

Vega Sport - creamy and smooth

Garden of Life Sport - I like the ingredients better and it is also good but less creamy

Epic Protein the vanilla lucuma flavour is my favourite vanilla protein on the market also their chocolate is delicious but this ones a bit too expensive for a daily protein in my opinion… its also higher in calories

Sun Warrior chocolate… healthy and you can taste it lol

This is the pudding mix I use to make my protein pudding:

I use 1.75 cups of unsweetened soy milk, 1 packet of this pudding and 1/2 scoop of Lean Fit Plant Protein and blend with a high speed blender.

If you’re going to use almond milk or any other plant milk than soy, you’ll need to reduce the milk to 1.5 cups at the very most otherwise it will get watery.

I have frozen these into popsicles so they make a fugsticle style treat.
